This Privacy Policy explains how Sonic Humidifiers ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Sonic mobile application (the "App") together with Sonic smart humidifier devices.

1. Information We Collect

Account information you provide:

Name, email address, phone number, and password
One-time passcodes (OTP) used to verify your account
Optional profile photo (only if you choose to add one)

Device and setup information:

Humidifier identifiers (device ID, model, firmware version)
The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) used to connect your humidifier. The Wi-Fi password you enter during setup is sent directly to the humidifier to onboard it onto your network and is not stored on our servers.

Operational data from your humidifier:

Humidity and temperature readings, target humidity, water-tank status
Online/offline status, last-seen timestamp, and alert events
Locations and rooms you create to organize your devices

Stored on your device only:

Authentication tokens used to keep you signed in. These are removed when you log out.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create your account and verify your identity (OTP).
To pair, control, and monitor your Sonic humidifier(s).
To deliver alerts (e.g., humidity thresholds, tank status, connectivity).
To provide customer support and keep the App secure and reliable.

We do not sell your personal information, and the App does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.

3. Permissions Used by the App

Permission	Why It Is Used
Camera	To take a profile picture (only if you choose this option).
Photo Library	To select a profile picture from your device.
Local Network (iOS)	To discover and communicate with your humidifier on your Wi-Fi during setup.
Internet / Network State	To sync with your humidifier and our service, and to detect connectivity changes.

You can revoke any permission in your device settings; some features may stop working as a result.

4. Sharing of Information

We share information only as needed to operate the Services:

With our backend service hosted under sonichumidifiers.com to provide account, device control, and alert features.
With your Sonic humidifier(s), which receive control commands and Wi-Fi credentials directly during setup.
With service providers (such as cloud hosting and email/SMS delivery for OTPs) acting on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
When required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and device data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from the in-app Settings, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal or security reasons.

6. Security

We protect your data using HTTPS/TLS in transit, hashed passwords, OTP-based verification, and bearer-token authentication. No system is 100% secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your information.

7. Your Rights

Access and update your profile information from within the App.
Delete your account at any time from the in-app Settings.
Contact us to exercise any other rights available to you under applicable law.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the App after changes indicates acceptance of the updated Policy.
